I trained as an art therapist at Sheffield 22 years ago partly because of my own experience of using art to explore and understand myself. For many years I combined working within the NHS with children and families in mental health teams in Liverpool and Manchester, together with work as an independent Art Therapist in adult mental health in the voluntary sector, and training Art Therapy students in Further and Higher Education, at South Trafford College and Sheffield University.

My Masters degree is in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies from the Tavistock Clinic, a course based on the observation of young infants. This has all helped extend my psychodynamic Art Therapy approach to include an understanding of family relationships and other systems, and broadened my practice. I have a great interest in how we develop through life stages, and a good perspective which helps me work flexibly across ages.

For the past 7 years I have worked as an independent art therapist and clinical supervisor at my base in Chorlton, and continue to enjoy the depth and variety of Art Therapy.

I have recently combined my longstanding meditation practice and teaching of meditation with my therapeutic experience by training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, which incorporates mindfulness meditation and CBT approaches. I will be offering short MBSR courses beginning in Autumn 2010. ( Click here for more details)
